Cheers for the Peeps!

We are so very excited to say that we now have 17 adorable baby chicks lighting up our home with their sweet newborn peeps! What an amazing journey this has been!

To be quite honest, after caring for them these past three weeks, I was really beginning to have my doubts as to whether they'd actually hatch or not. After all there were several times I'd go to check on the incubators temperature only to find that it was too high or too low. Or the fact that I never added water to the incubator until the end which is supposed to maintain the proper humidity level. Oops!

To our complete joy, Sunday afternoon (on their exact due date) after returning home from church, Josh saw that one of the eggs had pipped it's shell. Which means it poked a small beak size hole in its shell to start the hatching process. And as we were looking at the hole we heard the peeping begin and started to see some of the eggs moving around as they prepared for their big arrival. Oh we were so very excited!

We spent most of Sunday afternoon and all of Monday observing this amazing process. And amazing it was! To see the kids anticipation and wonder was truly a sight that made the whole process so worth while. I know they will never forget this!

{here they are starting to dry off}

{by morning they were all cute and fluffy}

{and they are so very sweet!}

{Colton's Sparrow, Gracie's Bella and Fletcher's Falcon. And no we can't tell them apart. They just open the cage and get out "their" chick.}

We love our chicks!
