Once Again...

I am trying to play catch up. Okay, so I've got to figure out a way to better keep up with this. I must. I get so behind and feel overwhelmed at the thought of even attempting to get caught up. Then on top of that my computer has been slower then slow so that makes it even less appealing to sit down and write a post. When it becomes time involved I don't even bother with it. Too much else to do.

Anyhow, we've had a fun and busy March and April mainly spending time on the farm. Thank goodness we don't work and school outside of the home or I don't know how it'd keep up with even half of it. It certainly is a lot of work and unfortunately my house has suffered for it. From waking up to feed the animals, to spending time with them and also bottle feeding the goats three times a day, it definitely can be time consuming. But we truly feel that it'll be so worth it and we're on a mission with this. Not only do I think it's so great for the children to have the life lessons of caring for and raising farm animals but we're hoping to one day raise all of our own meat consumption. Free range, grass fed, all natural chicken, turkey, beef and eggs. And we're hoping to have all the fresh goats milk that we could ever need. And maybe, my little helpers and I could learn how to make goats cheese. And yogurt. And goats milk soap too! Oh the options are endless. And gardening, we desperately want to plant a garden with a colorful variety of produce. We have a small one started already (okay, miniature) and we are attempting to grow carrots, tomatoes, basil, parsley, eggplant and lettuce but I have no idea what will actually produce. We have also been making an attempt at buying locally grown produce. We have a u-pick farm just down the street from us and there's also a farmers market that sells organic produce just across 714. So there is no reason we can't make the commitment to eat more locally grown food when we can't grow it ourselves.
I have hundreds of pictures stored on my computer that I haven't shared yet so here's a bunch to help get me caught up. Some are older from March and some are from April.
Enjoy :)

These pictures of the goats were from right before we sold them. We decided to sell all eight as a group and start fresh with hornless female Nubians that will give us something in return other than trimming down the weeds and a tax exemption. I have dreamed of having my own dairy goats for quite some time now and I'm absolutely tickled to actually be a Nubian owner. Not only are we raising them for their dairy production but they make very lovable pets and we're going to get the kids into showing them as well. How fun will that be! Not only fun but it will teach responsibility, and give them a special connection to goat raising while also connecting them to other goat loving kiddos.

I'll post pictures of our new sweet goats soon. They are beauties and we are in love!

Not only are we having fun with our little critters but this little beauty brings us shear joy every day. We are beyond blessed to have her in our family. She's got the cutest little personality and is so much fun!

We had Lauren and Abby over for a day on the farm while they were here visiting from Texas. They are my sister in law Kelly's nieces and our kids pretty much think of them as their own cousins. They always have a blast playing together.

{this was miss maggie's very first kayak ride :) }

Lauren turned 10 in March and Abby turns 7 in May so they are very close in age to Colton and Gracie.

How do you like our new (yet old) chairs and table set up? The kids actually were the ones who spotted them and after sitting in one for a few minutes I was begging Josh to buy them for us. They are so comfy and make the perfect reading spot. The new kitties in the house really love them too!
