As I took the kids to see the Easter Bunny, it was a complete deja vu of Santa Clause. Fletch seemed so truly excited to see the bunny, but of course as soon as I went to set him on his lap, the screaming began. I know I'll receive the bad mommy of the year award, but I said to Mr. Bunny, "okay... this is really mean, but please take him just for a minute so I can get a photo" (or two). I get so many pictures of both Colton and Gracie who are always so willing to stop and sweetly smile for a picture (or is it that I just have them really well trained : ) while Fletch is off running or climbing or getting into who knows what (probably the spices... I'll share that story with you another day) so I was determined to get their picture taken TOGETHER, all three of them, with the bunny. As soon as I saved him from Mr. Bunny, he calmed right down and was ready to run and play again. I am nearly certain that he will never remember that experience (or at least that's how I make myself feel better : ) Since we went on a school day, the mall was nice and quiet so we strolled around, played at Pottery Barn for a bit and enjoyed a nice lunch together. I was a little nervous about dining alone with three little ones, so I was so relieved when they all (yes, even Fletch) sat through lunch very quietly never causing any distractions to the other diners. This made me feel so happy and so at ease so I said, "hey kids... how would you like to go to the park?" I took them to the John D. MacArthur State Park which is also in Palm Beach. We visited the nature center and made a little field trip out of it learning about snakes, sea turtles, fish, butterflies, etc. Then we were adventurous spotting skinks and other wildlife while walking the nature trails. This also made for a good photo opportunity for me : ) I wound up getting so... many great pictures! After tiring ourselves out even more at the playground, we headed home after a long but very fun day. Throughout our day for some reason I couldn't get out of my head how thankful I was to have Colton there with us. I know I am so blessed that he doesn't have to miss these special days that we share together, that would be a lot less special if he wasn't there to share them with us (meaning if he were at school). In the end, I felt like it was actually a really successful day as far as learning and developing our character goes, so our fun family day turned out to be a educationally productive day after all : )
I know Fletch, I would be scared too... just look at those teeth!
Yes, Gracie is sticking her tongue out here. This caught me by surprise and I took it as my sign to put the camera away!
Watching a skink slither away!
This is what Fletch was doing during most of these pictures.
So long for brand new, clean Easter outfits!
